A Walk Through The Garden, 2007

'Halo Glory'

Miniature, 2003, R. Moore

I decided, once the garden was in, to put a border of miniatures along the drive. Now if I could only keep the trash truck from driving over it...

I was struck by 'Halo Glory' because it very much resembled my idea of a rose that was in the center of a novel I was writing, with its deep red center and lighter petals.

Of all the miniatures I have (and there must be two dozen now), this one seems to be the most restrained. She blooms in flushes throughout the season but never grows much bigger than you see here (about two hand-breadths across and one high). She is always the last of the minis to leaf out in spring.

There is, alas, no fragrance that I can detect.
