Peace'Hybrid Tea (Sport of 'Peace'), 1962, Johnson
I tend to like gaudy things, and I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of yellow. I prefer 'Chicago Peace' to 'Peace' for its more pink and orange and showier presence. I had a very fine one in my old garden, but the one I started with in this one was dug up by raccoons. So early this year I planted a new, potted 'Chicago Peace' which finally broke in mid April.
The first flowers came in early June. Somehow I remember them as being a bit gaudier in color than this, but this color is just fine by me.
